"Digital smile design", often shortened to DSD, is used in different ways by different clinics. At SDS Dental it means that the key steps of your smile treatment are carried out with digital tools and checked with you before anything is final: your prepared teeth are recorded with an iTero digital scanner, your veneers or crowns are made by our dental laboratory from that digital record, and photographs are used alongside the mirror when you and your doctor judge the result at the try-in.

It is not a separate treatment you "buy" on its own. It is the way your veneers, crowns or Hollywood Smile are planned, made and approved, and it is what keeps the result natural and predictable.

This approach is used whenever the visible front teeth are being changed with veneers or crowns. Typical patients want to correct discolouration that whitening cannot fix, chipped or worn edges, gaps, uneven lengths, small or irregular teeth, or old crowns and fillings that no longer match. It is used for a few teeth as well as for a complete Hollywood Smile.

It cannot replace basic oral health. If there is active gum disease, decay or an infection, your doctor will plan to treat that first, because a beautiful smile only lasts on a healthy foundation.

Everything starts with a conversation. At your consultation Dr. Seçil examines your teeth and gums, takes any X-rays that are needed, and talks through what you want to change and what you want to keep: the shade you are hoping for, how much you want the shape and length to change, and whether you are after a subtle refresh or a bright "Hollywood" look.

A natural-looking result follows the face rather than a template, so your facial midline, your lip line when you smile and speak, and the proportions between your front and side teeth all guide the plan. Your doctor also explains, tooth by tooth, whether a veneer or a crown is the right choice.

After your teeth are prepared, we take the impression with the iTero intraoral scanner. It is a small camera wand moved around your teeth for a few minutes that creates a precise 3D model of your prepared teeth and bite. For most patients this replaces the traditional tray of impression paste: no gagging, no waiting for material to set, and no need to repeat an impression if something shifts.

The digital record is sent to our dental laboratory, and your veneers or crowns are made from it. A precise impression is the foundation of a good fit at the edges of each restoration, which matters for both appearance and long-term gum health.

Consultation and planning

Examination, any X-rays needed, and a detailed conversation about the look you want and the right restoration for each tooth.

Preparation

The teeth receiving veneers or crowns are gently reshaped to make room for the new restorations, minimally for veneers, more for crowns.

Your prepared teeth are scanned with the iTero scanner and the digital record is sent to the laboratory.

Laboratory try-in before finishing

Before your restorations are finished, the laboratory brings them for a try-in. They are placed on your teeth and photographs are taken.

Your decision, in the mirror and on photos

You look at the result in the mirror and on the photos, and make the final decision together with your doctor. If you would like the teeth a little shorter, softer at the edges, or a shade lighter or warmer, this is the moment to say so.

Finishing and final fitting

The laboratory finishes your restorations according to that decision, and they are then fitted and permanently bonded or cemented.

A try-in before finishing turns the biggest worry of smile treatment ("what if I don't like it?") into a clear decision point with your doctor beside you. Because the restorations are not yet finished, your feedback on shape, length and shade can still be applied by the laboratory.

The photographs matter just as much as the mirror. In a mirror you see yourself reversed and very close up; in a photo you see your smile the way other people see it, from a normal distance and in proportion to your whole face. Looking at both, together with Dr. Seçil, helps you make a confident, well-informed decision.

Our digital workflow is part of all of our cosmetic smile treatments:

• Hollywood Smile: a complete smile makeover, usually covering the upper 8 to 10 visible teeth.
• Laminate veneers: thin E-max or porcelain shells for structurally healthy teeth.
• Zirconium and E-max crowns: full coverage for heavily filled, weakened or root-treated teeth.

For a smile makeover with veneers or crowns, the whole process (consultation, preparation, digital impression, laboratory try-in, your decision and final fitting) is typically completed in 5 to 7 days in Antalya. At SDS Dental, digital smile design is not charged as a separate item. The iTero digital impression, the laboratory try-in and the photographs are part of your veneer, crown or Hollywood Smile treatment, so the price you are quoted already covers them.

What you pay depends on how many teeth are treated and which material suits them. As a guide, our all-inclusive Hollywood Smile package is £2,690 for 20 zirconium crowns, with your hotel stay, airport pick-up and a night guard included. If you need fewer teeth, veneers instead of crowns, or another treatment first, your doctor prepares a personal plan after your free online assessment, and you receive your price in writing before you book your flight.

A little preparation before you travel makes your visit smoother:
